In a nutshell…

You’ve got experience managing and stewarding technology in a nonprofit context — especially Salesforce — but that’s only part of the story. You also have a certain magic that makes you the right kind of guide, coach, friend, mentor, and strategist to others who are learning how to do it. You find a complex strategic landscape to be an interesting challenge to be understood and grappled with. You have a steadiness and authenticity to the way you approach conversations and interactions. You build trust that is well earned and based on real experience and insight…

Description

We’re looking for a seasoned senior-level Salesforce leader. But note that this is not your typical Salesforce consulting role. This role is about helping lead and coach organizations through a turnaround in the entire way they approach their CRM landscape. This is technology work, yes. But even more so it’s organizational transformation work.

At the Build Tank, we help lead technology turnarounds at social sector organizations. A common element of such turnarounds involves coming into a situation where an organization’s Salesforce CRM implementation has not lived up to its promise. We help the organization restructure, build, and recruit a team to drive a new level of stewardship and partnership around its platforms.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our team to learn the Build Tank model of transformation. You'll lead discovery and intake sessions, analyze team feedback, and craft strategic recommendations. Our ideal candidate has experience managing tech platforms at nonprofits, a human-centric approach to their work, and a desire to drive meaningful change.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience guiding technology platforms in the nonprofit sector. You’ve been in the trenches, perhaps as a Salesforce Administrator or website technology leader, and have a proven track record of guiding teams through strategic prioritization and system implementation.

  • Is an excellent and natural project manager. It seems to flow through your veins, from followup to organization to communication to strategically thinking ahead. You’re a strategic thinker at both a big picture and highly detailed level, so when given a project you are already thinking ahead about the sequencing of milestones and tasks, and you find satisfaction in helping all the pieces work in concert with each other.

  • Is passionate about change management. You get excited about partnering with teams to understand their unique needs and crafting solutions to transform the way they work. You’re adept at leading stakeholders through this journey through deep listening, curiosity, and open-mindedness.

  • Is an exceptional communicator and listener. You have a knack for connecting with people, understanding their pain points, and articulating complex ideas in a way that resonates.

  • Is ally-minded and empathic. You are motivated by wanting the best for the people and organizations you are supporting. You’re able to put yourself in their shoes, imagine their challenges, and experiment with ways to provide the right support and guidance for their particular situation.

  • Is a strategic thinker and problem-solver. You enjoy diving into complex challenges, uncovering root issues, and crafting innovative solutions. You’re skilled at identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies that enhance overall organizational performance.

  • Is adaptable and iterative. You excel at evolving strategies and approaches based on new insights, always aiming to present the most effective and elegant solution. You’re focused on continual improvement and are adaptable when working in an agile, highly iterative environment.

  • Embraces ownership and accountability. You’re proactive, detail-oriented, and take pride in driving projects forward from start to finish. You know when to pull in others at key moments.

  • Is a seasoned professional: You’ve managed large scale projects, acting as an ally to various teams, and ensuring smooth organizational transitions. You’re comfortable working with leaders and effectively communicating the value and necessity of technology investments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Studying, learning and perennially increasing expertise and understanding of the Build Tank’s model and processes.

  • Creating project and engagement plans, and taking leadership to own, iterate, and ensure execution on them.

  • Coordinating with various external and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless and professional communication and follow up.

  • Tracking projects, tasks, and next steps across multiple clients

  • Conducting intake calls with nonprofit stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and goals.

  • Analyzing call recordings, surveys and other sources to extract, summarize, and compile insights and help establish the case for change.

  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop strategic recommendations and roadmaps that align technology platforms with organizational missions.

  • Tracking and helping articulate the value of the work accomplished as part of the continuing case for change.

  • Guiding clients through the implementation of recommendations while always staying on the lookout for opportunities or threats, and ultimately ensuring a smooth transformation.

  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication with clients, keeping them informed and engaged throughout the process.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit technology management or a related field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in change management, with a proven track record of guiding organizations through successful technology transformations.

  • Strong understanding of Salesforce.com and other digital platforms commonly used in the nonprofit sector.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience managing complex projects, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and workstreams simultaneously.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Position Details:

  • Location: Remote

  • Compensation: $120-150K DOE, with benefits offered.

  • Growth Opportunity: This role offers significant mentorship and growth potential, with opportunities to take on more responsibility and leadership over time.
