“How much will it cost to build” is such a fair and reasonable question, and it comes up all the time in technology.

And yet often it’s the wrong question.

Thinking about how to explain this, I first went back to re-read a post written 5 years ago by my co-founder Chris Zezza, and realized he had already explained it beautifully. Just as true now as it was then.
